WELCOME TO RUSTIC ROOTS HOMESTEAD:

Meet Jessie and Melody Kirk,

Two small-town kids who met while working at a local fast-food joint during their Sophomore and Junior Year; Fast forward 12 years and here we are – Married, raising kids, working full-time; all whilst creating our forever home, and growing our homestead!

The day it all started was a typical Saturday while running errands, we had stopped by the local kubota dealer to pick up a part for the tractor and while parking, I joked that while were here Jessie should price out a tiller as I was getting impatient for the gentlemen who had tilled our plot in previous years to call me back; To my surprise, he listened and even called me the following Monday morning, to announce he had spoken to our sales guy, agreed on a price and finalized the deal -  we were proud new owners of a land pride tiller! Following this exciting purchase was a trip to the local nursery to buy our plants, seeds, and fertilizer. We then spent the next few days, tilling, plotting rows, planting, and labeling our newly planted garden rows.

 

This quickly became something we both enjoyed. We looked forward to walking the garden, in the mornings before work, in the afternoons when coming home and in the evenings following dinner when we typically watered. Quickly realizing how much fruit our plants would bear, we (very) quickly found ourselves canning into the midnight hours and getting up to do it all over again; We spent evenings and weekends cleaning, cutting, and canning - in order to preserve as much as possible. Determined to share with those in our community we decided to start a homestead, and therefore Rustic Roots Homestead was born.
